Paris Trip Day 2: Travel Vlog: Antique Carousel at Hotel de Ville and Historic St. Chapelle Cathedral post thumbnail image

On our second day traveling in Paris during the winter of 2022, and visited one site that’s only available during the Christmas season and another that has stood in the heart of Paris for over 800 years.

The Christmas market at Hotel de Ville features an antique carousel that’s free to ride!

During the holiday season, local vendors set up Christmas markets all over the city, where they sell everything from traditional winter street food to handmade crafts. We visited the Christmas market at Hotel de Ville (Paris city hall), which featured a beautiful antique carousel with free rides for anyone! We also enjoyed some tasty treats like crepes and pretzels, which are great options for kids who might be picky eaters.

St. Chapelle is a must see monument not far from the Notre Dame Cathedral

Later in the day, we visited the historic Sainte Chapelle, a chapel on the Ile de la Cite very close to Notre Dame Cathedral (which remains closed for repairs indefinitely). This cathedral was first built in the 11th century and features amazing walls covered in stained glass. These detailed masterpieces tell many of the most important stories of the Bible. A gothic style church, admission to St. Chapelle is included in the Paris Museum Pass, and we were required to make a reservation in advance.

To see these beautiful historic sites, watch our full day of Paris sightseeing here!
